Let’s Do Mathematics Learner’s Book 1

Learner’s Book – Grade 1 Let’s Do Mathematics Activities is a new series specially written to provide practical experiences that support the acquisition of numeracy skills for the new competency-based curriculum. The books in the series provide a wide range of activities that the learners will find exciting and motivating. These activities are aimed at the acquisition of the core competencies, values, and pertinent and contemporary issues (PCIs) as outlined in the curriculum. The Learner’s Book fully covers the requirements of the new competency-based curriculum: • The topics are structured according to strands and sub-strands. • The ‘Let us Do’ section provides activities that encourage teamwork and collaboration through application of what the learners have learned. • The ‘Family Maths’ section allows learning to take place out of class and at home. • The ‘Word questions’ provide real-life situations where learners can apply creativity and critical thinking skills in solving everyday problems. • The ‘Digital corner’ aims at integrating the use of digital technologies in learning thereby enabling the learners to acquire digital literacy skills. Together, the Learner’s Book and the Teacher’s Guide provide learners and teachers with all they need to succeed in the new competency-based curriculum.
