Economic Growth with Social Justice

Considered ‘the most articulate and persuasive spokesman’ for the developing world in the twentieth century, renowned economist Mahbub ul Haq (1934–1998) made a major impact on development philosophy and lending policies of the World Bank. Following the trajectory of four decades from the 1960s to the 1990s, tracking an ideological transition from ‘growth only’ to ‘growth with distribution’, Economic Growth with Social Justice distinctly portrays Haq’s contribution to the larger international development debate.
