Tim Kendall lives alone, works in a department store, and doesn’t have any friends. Life can seem pretty bleak when you’re a 23 year old loner. But inside of his mind, Tim is a warrior, a hero, on great and daring adventures.
When Tim discovers role-play games, the world of enchantment is opened to him, and he finds colour and excitement in his imagination. In the real world, his two most significant relationships involve a young autistic boy, and the sinister Harold, who looms large in both the real world and Tim’s wild imaginings.
First published in 1989, Enchantment follows a lost young man trying to find his place in the world.
